Some of the upvotes might be from colleagues, but as most of the team are either UX/UI designers or front-end developers, that's wouldn't be a surprise. It's a small team, so I believe it would be only a very small portion of the upvotes. I don't have time to waste creating free accounts.
Because of the configuration of the team, we write a lot about design (half the content of the blog is about it). HN is where I share their ideas, and a lot of this content opinionated. I think it's good content thus why I've been posting on HN since around 2014.
I still remember when HN was a good source to share ideas and discussion. I believe it still his, but you're right. 5 of these posts might be too much, but I also believe there are a lot fewer people posting than before, and as consequence topics are not as diverse as they once were.
Well, it’s on the topic of HN and does deliver value. I’m sorry it’s seen like that.
Shameless plug ;)
We do like to share our knowledge. It's a way of giving back, and I'm sure sharing our the experience is useful to a lot of people out there.
I highly encourage you to take a look at what we have shared re design. I guarantee you it is not low effort at all: https://www.imaginarycloud.com/blog/tag/design/
This particular article might seem simple and easy to write, but I guarantee you it was not.
These tools on the list are the tools that we use everyday. So for us, sketch/illustrator/photoshop are nicer than the other tools. As a disclaimer, we try other tools (Figma, Framer X, etc) whenever a new tool comes out or suffers updates to see if it improves our way of doing things.
Sharing simple and fluid ideas is not easy. If you don't share your thoughts regularly, give it a try. After some time things will get smoother, but still far from a walk in the park.
Regarding the upvotes, as a respect for the authors, we do share the articles in several places that we find the audience might find them useful. We sometimes share the link not to the article, but to some forums where the article was shared instead.
You are right. One can use GIMP or Inkscape to design visual interfaces. But the tools on this list are nicer.
Askimet would solve it.
| *Update, it's just stupid football, no epic animal battles... at... all!!!
I'm disappointed now.
And it's really a pity to be forced to disable notifications. That lowers the activity on the community.
IMHO that would put a barrier to new people joining and that can be frustrating when you start your career, etc.
I would bet on the captcha first and go from there. Or an integration with a Askimet or alike.
