As for Upwork, my main concern is that it's hard for a newcomer like me to compete with other designers who already have an established track record on this platform.

As for less known platforms, I'm a bit worried if they provide a guaranitee that I will be paid for the work I've done.

One of pain points for designers is a growing demand for wider skill sets. Today’s designer also has to understand the basics of marketing, branding, search optimization, etc. I think a service that educates designers on that topics or automates some of that tasks may be helpful.
