Looks great. I kinda thought I landed on a Apple website when I opened the link. Both the app and website look exactly like Apple's.

I'm curious to see how much manual actions are required for this app. That's kind of where these concepts end for me. I used a (vaguely) similar app a long time ago, think it was by the creators of Sleep Cycle. I had to check the app so much to see if everything was being put in correct (they did a lot based on GPS location). I wouldn't know how to combat having to do this though since a lot of the stuff you do obviously isn't traceable by a phone.

That's only 50% of the solution if you ask me. A ton of useless stuff gets posted here, upvoted by friends/coworkers and thus making more valuable posts almost invisible. As of writing this, the top 3 posts I see link to the following:

They're all shit. If I want to read a prototypr article I go to the fucking prototypr website. I dont need to see shitty dribbble self promotion. And I most certainly don't need 42 useless free magazine mockups.

To be honest, I think this community is the most active whenever a topic like this gets opened. Which is every 3-4 months. I've kind of given up at this point. Thats not to say that I wouldn't like to see it become active again, but there's just no saving it I'm afraid.

I genuinenly like the idea of this and the Chrome extension for example seems like a perfect fit. However checking if gifs are dangerous by placing them in Figma is probably the last workflow I would ever think of, and it doesn't really make much sense to me.

4 designers with about 40 employees. Would say 4 developers per 1 designer for ratio. Generally we have around 4/5 projects going on at the same time which each have 1 dedicated designer. We pair together once a week and have some company-wide projects we tackle together tho.

If there's other sites I'd love to know about them. It's definitely not a DN-specific issue even though the downvotes, absurd self promotion and spam has contributed to it. I can't really name a single place where I'd go to get my design news and have conversations regarding design related topics. There's a few subreddits here and there but nothing as active as for example developers are.There's webdev/frontend subreddits with 300k+ members.. Hackernews is active as hell as wel.

I sorta have the feeling that I'm missing out by not being on Spectrum, not being in any Slack chats or by deleting my Twitter 5 years ago.

Bummed to see this happen but at the same time, for now, the content on the Subreddit looks good. It really felt like this was a long time coming. I've lurked here for 3-4 years, been posting for maybe a little over a year. I don't know how many times I reported spam posts but it was getting ridiculous. The top content most of the times is absolutely shit and feels heavily as if the company behind the post just got a few of their employees to bump it up.

I really like the community that DN used to be. I feel there's more then enough of that stuff for dedicated programmers, such as HN, but it's kinda missing for designers. At least if you don't want to join hard-to-keep-up Slack's/Discords/Spectrum-whatever chats.

PSD2 is far from what everyone seems to think it is. As of yet. Maybe it will make sure spending trackers and open banking apps will be more useful in the future though. I can't name a single app that allows me to connect to my bank similar to Rollie (in The Netherlands) and I work in fintech. The only bank that differs from this is Bunq but afaik even they don't have a API that's able to fetch all your spendings from your account. Some banks have their own stuff such as 'Grip' which is backed by ABN Amro but that's not a standalone app.

As far as I know there's barely any banks in Europe that have public API's that give this data or are willing to work together with external companies. I think there's some in Germany and I believe in France aswel, but in general a lot of banks over here are really hesitant.

I'm not sure, do they mean a full web-based Sketch with this? If so I'd be stoked but I would expect this to be the biggest news from the entire article. My current place forces me to use Win10, which admittetly isn't as horrible as I originally expected, but I still miss Sketch (and other Mac tools & tricks, but Sketch is a nice start). Figma is good but also isn't as intuitive as I originally thought it was.
