I was a bit shocked too when I saw this from Apple, but I feel it's not for the every day consumer. I feel this is for the corporate or pro market. I was thinking that better protection and extra battery life would go well when I'm recording sound on my iPhone, through the Rode iXY mic, on a tripod, out on my travels. This would actually work really well for that particular use case.

I personally think Meteor are killing it right now. Me and a friend tried out Meteor and React on a new project and we were able to have a fully working prototype in just a few hours. It really is great and I'm still unsure why more people aren't talking about it. It's great stuff and takes all the pain out of web development in so many ways.

I'm currently writing a small children's book and I've been using iA Writer 2 for a while. I was always tempted by the Pro version. I'm glad they have combined the two and I'll most probably snap this version up. It's a great writing experience and really does make you focus.

  • Posted to Ask DN: Photographers—what do you use for photo editing and organizing?, Sep 11, 2015

I'm really trying to give Apple Photos a good go, it has many benefits. Right now it doesn't really compare to others, but when App Extensions mature and there are some professional ways to edit photos on top of what Apple Photos provides, it could be really great. There is nothing quite like having non-destructive editing options across all the Apple devices. Doing quick edits on the iPhone, tweaking on the Mac, messing around in iPad. It's obviously not "professional" level yet, but I have high hopes for App Extensions... I say all of this, but I suppose I'm not really a professional photographer! :)

I emailed your support guys about this. Biggest thing I'd love to see is masking with scrolling capabilities. Surrounding an image and have that scrollable inside would be great. Many uses for that. Keep up the good work!

I was trying out Atomic today. It's actually amazing. The simplicity of the whole system is fantastic and is a lovely weird soup of InVision, Framer, Principle, etc.

Will be keeping an eye on this tool.

I took the plunge with a premium account on Dropmark and I've been completely addicted since. Really awesome product. Within a week I've got all my favourite bookmarks, animated GIFs, interface inspiration, favourite quotes, stuff I want to buy, etc etc. Great service :)

I think Michael N. Evensen's case study on the SoundCloud iOS redesign is excellent http://www.michaelevensen.com/
