We teamed up with Autodesk teamed up to create Sketch This, a collection of daily drawing challenges encouraging artists of all skill levels to explore new techniques, emotions, and subjects with their art.

Sketch This is directly integrated inside the free Autodesk SketchBook mobile app for iOS and Android.

Examples of daily challenges you'll see:

    • Draw a cartoon selfie
    • Sketch a tree in just 15 minutes (timed challenge)
    • Illustrate a hybrid between two animals
    • Sketch your most recent dream
    • Draw something using one continuous line

After drawing, your creation can be submitted to DeviantArt from within the SketchBook app. All entries are displayed with the challenge, letting artists see how others interpreted the challenge.

As an artist, having a daily dose of inspiration is important. Sketch This encourages artists to stay creative in a fun and social way.

Would love to hear what you guys think of the idea and the actual challenges!

Today we launched a mobile app, both for Android and iOS.

Since we've been around for over 14 years with 33 million members, it's probably pretty surprising that we didn't already have an app, but we're excited to finally bring the community to mobile.

As posted on DN last week, we just launched a rebrand, and the new brand and brand system is in full use on the mobile app. Would love to hear your thoughts on it, or the app in general!

Thanks, Michael! We're actually quite pleased with the community response. The initial response we see on any change is always pretty negative (like any community, but even more so on DeviantArt because of our vocal audience), and in comparison, the response to this change is actually pretty positive in comparison. It's also great to see artists using the mark: http://www.deviantart.com/tag/deviantartlogo

We're all pretty happy with the response so far, though we have been prepping for it for quite a few months. :)

Our team had a lot of fun playing with the brand system and artwork behind it. More "freshness" is coming. We made some changes a few months ago, including a more intuitive navigation, but those are just the first steps. We're hoping to do a bigger site uplift soon with the new branding.

Such a vague prompt to sign up... no examples or anything.

    But I signed up. :)

Ha. Do you have a recommendation for a better (but similar) font?
