  • Posted to Grav is a modern open source flat-file CMS, Oct 26, 2015

Was actually looking for an open-source flat CMS solution that would be relatively a breeze to setup. Grav looks promising, looking forward to trying it out!

    Hi Jean-Marc,

Thanks for taking out the time to answer questions today! A few questions:

    • What direction would you have liked to take Sparrow in, had it not been acquired?
    • What do you think is the most important reason why some people still prefer native clients like Sparrow, over a web-based client like Inbox (I love both, use both)?
    • What are some of the challenges that you foresee with regards to the current tooling for designing for VR?

Definitely an interesting and a fresh direction by Reddit, taking the front-page of the internet and giving it a fresh coat of paint.

Hey Tobias! I notice how you've successfully managed to monetize each of the projects you've mentioned above. What strategies were important when building each of these products that allowed you to do so? Was monetization the goal from the start, or does that come later?

Love the beard and absolutely love your work! Thanks!

  • Posted to What are some of the best case studies you've read?, Sep 04, 2015

I think Teehan+Lax's case studies were one of the very first ones to get me excited about design as a process. I think the thing that stood out was how they took a detailed, in-depth and yet, a very holistic view of design as part of their case studies and their work. Their case studies were indeed well-crafted stories, which definitely added to the appeal and the pleasant experience of reading them. http://www.teehanlax.com

Haha, I guess that would make a good reason not to implement custom scrolling.

    Hi Andrew!

Thanks for taking out the time to do this AMA today. I've followed MetaLab's work for quite some time now and have always been inspired by the close attention to detail that MetaLab pays to its work.

    • As someone who quit his job to start an interface design agency, what would you say were the key lessons you learnt along the way that allowed you to not only land the clients that you did but also focus on the type of work that you guys are doing (lots of focus on building products)?

    • Once MetaLab grew out of the initial phases, how closely did/do you stay involved in the day-to-day design process? How did you balance management vs. design and were you still able to practice the craft (albeit in a different form) that got you to start the agency in the first place?

    • Would you be open to grab a coffee sometime? (context: I'll be in Vancouver for the next four months)

    Cheers!
