If a designer started working at Stripe today, what would be the first things you'd want them to do or be exposed to?

I'd wish for problems and projects that are of interest and value to me. It can be related to hobbies, something that scratches your own itch, or anything you feel like contributing to. This can change time to time. By carefully choosing what and who I work with allows me to best design wholesomely.

Yes!

I used to use listening room, mixapp, and turntable. Friends and I would hop from one to service to another as they would shut down. It was best when the rooms were small with a focus on sharing music in more intimate setting. I've seen some of the newer ones that feature rooms with 50+ people in it and jazzing it all up to be social and fancy. I've been wanting to pursue this idea for a while, probably even have some mockups lying around somewhere.
