I can run Sketch and Figma just fine on an early 2015 MacBook 12-inch with the 1.2 Ghz Intel Core M and 8GB ram fwiw.
I agree with the criticisms the author described, so I guess I agree with the article?
Just noticed it this morning before seeing this post; must be a new thing.
Doesn't work on mobile I don't think. I could only scroll to one new section.
Ahh yeah, good call. I have never owned a car and haven't driven much in my life, but I can see how driving is one place where saving taps and glances is extremely important and in some cases life-saving.
If you need a shorter label to explain you're ability to assume multiple kinds of design roles—UX, UI, Graphic, Visual, etc—then I think it's a fine term. There is a design stack as much as there is a development stack.
I'd say the more detailed you can be, the better, listing out your previously held responsibilities, skills and tool proficiences. It's always better to avoid labels when you can. The sooner you label yourself, the sooner people think they've figured you out.
I'm with marco on this one. I don't think designers should put too much priority on speed-of-use save for professional tools where that's the name of the game. Users need to understand how to use the app first before they need to use it quickly. And I can see him adding shortcuts for more adept, savvy users to perform these functions at a greater speed. Or maybe he'll add a "The good 'ol days" switch in settings for those that want to tap-to-play and long-or-force-tap to reveal the new toolbar.
US only
I can see the Spotify design influence at play here, but don't see how this relates to the Starbucks brand beyond the use of their logo.
