I was is the same boat, needed something to connect to my MBP 2017 but also wanted to ability to use it for casual gaming. I ended up going with the Dell P2715Q and bought a USB-C to Display Port cable from Ebay.

As Marc's article points out, it's in the "bad zone" for PPI (163.2) but if you stick with the non-scaled settings in OSX it's pretty hard to tell. I find the highest resolution is a a bit small, but when designing I'm mostly zoomed in anyway so it's not a big deal. On the flip side, the lower non-scaled resolution is a bit big.

I wasn't able to find a perfect monitor for both design and gaming, but the Dell comes close enough.

Thanks Yen! Yeah we pull the colour from the artwork, most of the time it works well but occasionally we end up with some "questionable" colours. Still working on it ;)
