Trance and psy-trance when coding. Deep house and progressive trance while designing.

Nice concept! Awesome to see designers doing work for open-source - it's not just for developers!

Wow, really? Come on, it's supposed to be a friendly community, who are you to say something is or isn't useless.

Brilliant answer. I learnt Ruby and then Rails first up and it was definitely a lot easier than my failed attempts at learning JS.

  • Posted to What's the hardest aspect of working for yourself?, Oct 05, 2014

It's interesting reading the things that different people struggle with. For me, because I have two excellent long-term clients, I'm never in a pinch for content, money or work. But I do struggle with staying inspired and continued improvement, because I'm young (22yo) and working from home. I don't get a lot of direction and sometimes I think it would be nice to have a more senior designer over me making sure I'm heading in the right direction or solving the problem correctly.

This is probably the only downside to working remotely... That and my 2am meetings because my clients are in the US.

This is really exciting. My client and I are still in the redesign process of their application and they're really keen to use Foundation when we rebuild it. Can't wait to see it guys!

Always two sides to every story. It is annoying as hell getting LinkedIn messages constantly for unrelated jobs though.

  • Posted to Ask DN: How to find a mentor?, Sep 11, 2014

I have a mentor for business, but not for design. I think it's difficult to rely on one person to always be there for you and that's why online communities are so great.

Forums are great for that - you get to know the people and they really do take the time to give you feedback when you ask for it, especially when you take the time to become involved in the community before asking for help.

  • Posted to What sketchbook do you use?, Aug 30, 2014

I bought a hand-made leather-bound sketchbook while I was in Brugge, Belgium for 30 Euro. Makes me happy every time I see it and I always find myself opening it to use it, even for non-design stuff.

I started one but I feel like there's already enough books out there about making it in the industry, whether on your own or with an agency.

Maybe I should just use personal side-projects to create the goal-driven life that I like so much.
