Depends on the size of the company/teams. The bigger the "re-design" gets the harder it is to articulate your decisions and ship in the end if your teams work independent from each other or multiple stakeholders are involved.
In our company I'm the only product designer vs. 11 devs who work in two teams across our two products.
So one thing I experienced on my own while I started our design system:
I did it only because I knew we are not able to ship a huge redesign so I think it's definitely easier if you run a design system and take care of the overall design of the whole "thing".
tl;dr: I'm a fan of subtle changes. :)
Thanks! There are some valid and good points. :)
Finally. I hope they will do the same on Desktops soon. If there is "a lot of textual content" -> could be a blog -> Boom. Because this also happens on many so called "UX" blogs which should know it better.
Dialogs/Overlays are just not cool outside of an app, in any way imho.
You're welcome. Do you have some?
I will just copy & paste my collected links:
Good idea.
Imho the landingpage has too much information.
Yep, nearly everything can be managed in there even the move in another apartment/city.
We use it in a team with more than 20 members, works like a charm.

I had the same situation back then. Although I still feel sorry for the (small) Zeplin-Team I decided to move everything to InVision for now. It's easier to use it across our products/sites with different dev-teams.
Also since I use craft for prototyping in sketch it's a no-brainer because this way "Inspect" also gets it's data out of the sketch files.
