I'm all over GitHub Pages and BitBalloon for my pages these days. I've just started to play around with CloudCannon for some client work, too.
I wonder if they do that using wanker.js, made by Mig Reyes?
Jekyll is a static site generator. I use it and Frank for most of my work. I love them both. Jekyll is more geared towards blogging.
I think it is important to consider your intentions with a blog: do you care about exposure? A community driven service like Medium or Tumblr will offer some inbuilt exposure. Do you want comments? Is your content gonna follow a theme?
