This is only "smart" if you're in the business selling stuff. From someone who is personally drowning in information on a daily basis, I think this is absurd.
Not as elegant/minimal as Sketch, but pretty powerful.

I think there's a lot to learn from Material Design. Specifically, the references to real-world solids and the use of light and shadow to communicate context.
I think we'll see it's influence over time on the web, just like iOS has influenced things (eg Twitter web interface).
Conveying the selected state of a 2 option toggle button is especially tricky.
Which is the active state and which is the inactive state? Flat design and Apple interfaces make this distinction even more difficult.
Makes me sad. Are there other similar sites out there? Besides Pinterest.
As the NFL, why would you move away from the individualized logos? You lose so much personality. You can barely tell they've swapped the stadiums out each of last few years.

These last two paragraphs read like Mr. Lynch should be congratulated for not looking at his phone once during a one on one conservation. Really? A long time ago, this was considered common courtesy.
