I'm at a agency with a lot of developers and frontenders, I can only talk from my experience, and what i observed through my colleagues.

I wouldn't advise ever using MAMP. It can cause much more headaches and customization can be a real pain. Vagrant is fine - but it's incredibly resource hungry. Most of the people who used Vagrant at our company have removed it again.

I'd suggest

• apache2
• mysql
• php
• dnsmasq

They are the best I tried so far. A lot of great content IMO. I bought the Swift course a while ago.

osx comes with apache2 + php + mysql right out of the box, why install mamp?
