Calling Photoshop slow and bloated all the time isn't completely innocent when I spend 6 hrs / day in it. If you put Sketch on a pedestal as the best tool, you should recognize that you've challenged a notion and prepare for disagreement.

Sketch is simpler, and may be easier to learn, but Photoshop's flexibility, scope, and discrete, customizable UI make it the more powerful tool.

If you don't need the power, that's fine, but calling Sketch better for its simplicity is like saying a prosumer camera like a Nikon D60 is better than a professional grade Nikon D4.

I agree with those who said Product Designer is a vague title. It definitely comes off as meaning "jack of all trades" but most often just means "ux designer."

Hm. I'd like it if they ditched the transparency and returned to 2-story a's.

This would be really awesome, and a bit easier to pull off than Sketch, I imagine.

I don't take a position as extreme as that article, but it wasn't the only one written about how people felt Donna was sexist, I found three others as well. I don't even have a negative predisposition against Donna, one of my good friends worked on the project.

To rationalize the "Donna = sexist" story: it doesn't matter how sexist / not it'd be if they chose a male name. Assistants haven't traditionally been male for the past 60 years, and Mad Men (although I loved it) portrays a particularly negative era for women. Hence it might feel a tad opportunistic and alienating to some, that's all.

I prefer a graphic of some kind more than the text-link. Upvoting is a core function, and it's not congruent to the other underlined text-links in each post: the comments and poster profile.

This was a painfully mean and arrogant post. All designers create flawed work, even those not working unsolicited redesigns.

Designers who create unsolicited redesigns can learn from feedback that doesn't have to be this scathing. I happen to agree that it isn't a rigorous enough attempt to design Wikipedia, but I think we can all articulate that in a less destructive way than this post did.

This is pretty amazing. I wish the job description itself wasn't so flowery, but it is clever.

Just a word of caution!

That said, the app looks like a cool idea, and it'd be worth checking out if it was spot-on with the predictive responses.
