Geez, you guys are raging :) I've seen too many product designers letting go of their creative side, plainly because of that reason. And that is a bad thing for the future of product design. The best ideas are always different from the rest. Glad to see the conversation going though :)

No! Never. This is the main problem. Designers are so limited with what certain platforms do that they tend to stay inside the box. Designers must have the ability to do something out of ordinary, because that pushes developers to find new solutions to the problems, raises new questions of how the future tools can be created etc...

And overall this is the problem with Abstract and similar tools. This is the developer way of thinking, not designers. And we should avoid that. Sorry to say, I'm using Abstract daily and it does it job, but it doesn't solve the problem of how designers work. Figma got it, luckily.

It's $12 dollars per month. A bit more than your netflix subscription. If it's your main design tool - this is really cheap. Plus it works great.

I think is much better if you learn some frontend tools. Framer has a steep learning curve and you would be much better off learn Swift for example.

  • Posted to A future design tool with Git-like asset versioning, Jun 07, 2019

It's every developers dream to force designers to use GIT like versioning, but this just isn't the solution. I think Figma is the closest to how designers really work and could just expand their current system a bit and it'll work much better, without any additional tools needed. We tried Plant, Abstract and Kactus and none of them solved stuff as we would like too. Plant was the best approach but buggy as hell, didn't commit etc... Just my two cents...

The quality of content is not that great anymore, news is old and there is way too much self-promoting content.

Take more liberty to go crazy. It's your playground and you should use it to be as creative as possible. The current design looks a bit plain and outdated, like a template you buy online, which is a shame, because your portfolio is quite nice.

  • Posted to Zeplin pricing seems to punishes you when you hire another designer, Apr 19, 2019

Why don't you then use a couple of starter or growing business packs instead of having an organization account?

Zeplin guys are doing a fantastic job with the tool and the pricing is appropriate.
