You answered your question with this:
"I really want to click on this cat, but now I know better."
This is by far the primary reason for the disappearance of visited links. In your example from Buzzfeed, your :visited link styles prevented you from clicking down that trail—thus preventing Buzzfeed from generating revenue from that impression.
The removal of :visited from anything but navigation type areas is a business decision, not so much aesthetics.
What are the advantages to using Jekyll on such a beefy host? Don't get my wrong, I absolutely love DigitalOcean and I use them for a lot of things. For Jekyll though, the power is that it's static and can be hosted on a CDN like S3 and even served 100% through something like CloudFront.
I'm hiring for my team, contact me.
One thing to note is that adoption of Slack requires adoption of at least the whole team (if not the company, for even more benefit). However, it looks like you could sort of use this Hiri alone but will realize addition benefit as more adoption happens.
Is that because you're currently using an easier app to make mobile payments? Because you don't want to make mobile payments? Because you only pay your friends back for stuff with cash? Something else?
:(
or "CLICK MY REFERRAL LINKS!"

I found it interesting to read "We fell in love [...] with iMessage, WhatsApp, and Messenger." They were talking specifically about read receipts but somewhat ironically, these are the services actually displacing email.
I think we'll continue to see new email clients and AI-powered services that try to make email better but eventually the real game changers will be wholesale replacements for IMAP, POP, and SMTP based services.
I try to send and receive as few emails as possible. Obviously at Facebook, we use Groups and Messenger for everything. I think a lot of companies are there already.
The interface is beautiful and it looks really well done but I wonder how much email they send to each other at Superhuman. :)
