Tried to post a thumbs up, but it wouldn't let me!
I agree with this post, but I don't even think app/product folks have jumped the shark, but a very specific segment of those people have gone off the rails.
This "movie" is pure ego-stroking and marketing by InVision (a company who has a lot of money invested in product design). The more important product design is, the more important InVision is.
Edit: I AM a product designer, and I still think these people are awful.
After having iOS9 for a bit, I've actually started to really like the new font change. I've always hated Helvetica Neue in an interface.
I used to watch these "documentaries" all the time as a kid. They used to play them on the Disney Channel pretty regularly in the late 80s!
Hey everyone! We here at Transmogrify (xmog.com) are looking for a few people. We’re a small – but growing – design and dev shop in Conshohocken, and offer a lot of nice perks and a mostly autonomous work environment.
The most immediate position we are looking to fill is for a Front-End Developer, but we’re also looking for a mix of mobile developers and designers! We have a catch-all job posting here explaining who we are and the perks of working here: http://www.authenticjobs.com/jobs/24124/web-developer
You can read more about all of the jobs in detail here: http://xmog.com/jobs
Signed up! Any chance there will be a web app as well?
Didn't do a ton of research, just kind of picked one out at Micro Center, and it turned out to be really nice.

The only down side I'd say is the glossy screen, but it's super sharp and vibrant. I kind of love it.
Ha, I thought it might be weird (as an "Apple guy") that I like the MiUI interface better than iOS7 (and 8), but looks like I'm not the only one.
I got in with George Kuka's coins (thanks, George!), and they just now sent me three coins... so here you go Designer News!

To play devil's advocate... if you're going to argue for speed and then write a million classes with a single style in them with the class name defining the style of the element, like this:
.tc { text-center; }
Why not just inline all of your CSS?
