Skitch is super useful for this.

The list is based on sales of fonts published in 2014.

Yeah, they're pretty terrible. I wish there was a way to tell those people that the premise of their questions usually doesn't make any sense.

Usability Hub (usabilityhub.com) lets you do this. They call it a Preference Test.

I had a feeling it might be something like that. Thanks!

Hi Cap. I love Etsy, and I think that you guys have been making a lot of really smart design changes to the site recently. Here are a couple things I've been wondering.

    1. Why do you think that endless scrolling led to less engagement from users? I've read that one blog post, but I was still left with questions about what was really going on in the users' heads while they were using the feature. Related, will you ever create an opt-in endless scroll toggle? (Because I would like to use it)

    2. Why does the New From Your Favorite Shops section say it's "curated" by Etsy? Is it not showing me all the new items from the shops I follow? If this is the case, what's the logic behind that decision?

That was cool, thanks for posting. I actually looked into this subject a couple years ago and it was hard to find good resources on it. Most of what I found was the simplistic pop-up card stuff.

  • Posted to Ask DN: Can I use "X" for both close and remove?, in reply to Marc Edwards , Oct 31, 2014

I disagree. While a plus / minus concept may work in other contexts, it makes no sense to have within a shopping cart.

A minus sign would need to have a plus sign near it for it to be read as a removal indicator rather than a short horizontal line. The only place I can think you might have an add more sign within a cart would be to add to the quantity of an item. So, is the user forced to think "I would like a quantity of 0" if they want to remove something? Not very intuitive for them.

If you're worried about clarity, the easiest thing to do is to literally write out the word Remove or Delete (this is the solution Amazon and Ebay use).

I think that an X icon is a fine solution. The trash can and No symbol that others have proposed would also work.

Hi Julie. I first started using Facebook in 2004, in my first year of college when it was available to non-Harvard students. All my friends used it a ton for about 6 years or so, but now barely any of them post anymore, and some have deactivated their accounts. I don't think that this trend is unique to my friend group.

Are you doing anything with News Feed to address the fact that the first generation of Facebook users is leaving the product? Alternatively, do you see any of the new apps as being aimed at this demographic?
