Check out the app Connor. It's been a very deliberate and careful process to get to where we are. Would be happy to answer any questions. I will say that for our users it has been a smooth and welcome transition, but I understand that there might be some confusion about how the product and company has evolved. Hit me up at keenan [at] onwander.com if you'd like to discuss.

the point was the the specific application of a style to solve a specific problem — that decision — is what is ownable. So to apply that idea to this situation would mean that a company that offers a somewhat similar product to a similar audience uses a similar style. Implicit in the idea of good design is that design decision are specific to the problem they solve. As an isolated set of elements, the UI kit seems fair to me. It's only if it is applied to a competitive product that it would I would call foul. Just my 2 cents.

But one of the raddest games on the iPhone. Good case for great product design trumping aesthetics.

Not to get into this kind of conversation, but what about "familiarity decay" or something like that? I read "experience decay" as referencing the apps UX rather than the user's experience level.

I love the idea. I have a hard time seeing how this could lead an an absolute negative outcome. This kind of thinking can only lead to better UX. THe question is in the details of execution.

This feels like something people are willing to write off only because the path to success is as yet unclear, whereas long proven conventions have evidence to prove their effectiveness and with that comes a sense of comfort. A more intelligent and responsive app, something that adapts to us — sounds more human, more natural. Sounds good to me :)

really interested in seeing what this ends up being. The way portfolios are done now are dated so excited for a new style or standard to emerge.
