I don't know from experience, I've only played around with it shortly (haven't used it on any real projects yet). The site mentions a restful api though, so it should be possible.

I'm also not sure how it compares to other rails cms systems as this is the only one I've tried to date. I am very charmed by the idea of totally separating the back-end and the front-end in this way though. I'll keep an eye on this thread

Hi David! Cheers, no I didn't work on this. I was invited to a small opening yesterday, with a private tour through the museum after closing time which was very nice. I also had some time to chat with the van Gogh Museum website project leader and the guys from Q42 about this project.

From what I gathered, they'll continue to build on this site and from next year they'll release new stories every two months which coincide with the themes of the tours through the museum.

I wasn't bothered by the rounded font, but now you say so I do agree that some sharper typography would pop a bit more.

Normalize, as it lets you know what your elements do by default but keeps cross-browser behaviour consistent. Reset is a bit to destructive for my taste!

Your welcome! I haven't really looked into applications yet, but I recall that Adobe had something to animate SVG's with. Just googled it and found this page which also points to Edge Animate. "Adobe's vector graphics tool, Adobe Illustrator creates and imports SVG files for print and the web. Within the Adobe Edge Tools & Services, SVG content can be styled and debugged using Edge Code and can be animated and embedded in HTML with Edge Animate.". But eh, let us know how Synfig Studio or other solutions you'll find work out!

edit: As I've got that whole Adobe CC thing anyway I decided to give Adobe Edge animate a try, and it's pretty comprehensive! It's all about creating complex animated SVG's, has timelines and keyframes for the animations and is exportable in plain HTML and JS. Pretty impressive! Also, it ties in pretty well with the snapsvg.io which is an adobe library as well.
