I'm not sure I follow - why is sign up a turn off?

Understandable. I only mention it because I find saying "I designed that shit video icon in Skype" is the most successful way to explain what I do to strangers :)

Thanks David, appreciate that. I'm formerly Skype (I did all their icons back in the day), now I work at a little startup called Sendle

All good points... why have consistency when you can have 3 buttons with 3 totally different hover states (haha I need to make a choice, don't I). Glad you like the style though, and I'll bear in mind the font size when cracking into the upcoming feature tour and supporting pages

Good point Benjamin — hover states are my nemeses... I always end up staring at them for too long, trying 100 different versions, then landing on the totally wrong one :)

Thanks Christoph! Yeah you're absolutely right, and that's something I've glossed over a bit. "Micro interactions" are absolutely no substitute to thorough research and an already tight UI/UX – they come after that. The trick is knowing when sweating the details is going to be worth the effort (not as often as designers would like to think).

That's a really good call Mitch, I admit that the sentiment is somewhat sweeping and likely not applicable to every situation.

What I should have said is by observing how your product is being used on a day-to-day basis, you can often gain much more valuable insight than testing for edge-case scenarious. So I suppose in your case, simply watching how doctors use your product is the closest you can get to that. Given the nature of your product and end-user, I've no doubt you're way ahead of me!

Mad props to your work on Kareo - industry-specific product design is the hardest type of design I can imagine.

I wrote an article recently about my process behind choosing (http://blog.prevue.it/posts/picking-an-idea) - but essentially it comes down to whether I think I'm able to solve a real problem or not.

    Some recent standouts:

    http://studiompls.com/http://nurun.com/ (Great case studies) http://fuzzco.com/http://mentallyfriendly.com/

And not technically an agency, but nice nonetheless - http://www.blocklevel.nl/
