You all but forget its browser based as you use it day to day. With the desktop client it feels just as native as any other design tool (but you have the ability to get in via the web if you need to).
Also, another advantage of browser based is that you never have to keep track of files or versions of files ever again. Its just always there in the history from any machine anywhere in the world (its nice to travel light with a chromebook but still be 100% able to assist on anything if something urgent arises while im OOO.)
Bittersweet rebrand. I do like the simplicity and freshness of the new look but the old brand had such unique character. Smiley mountain orb will be missed.
Concept and execution are really well done. I would love something like this and I think having something that works in Spotify would be the right solution.
Reminds me of the good olllll turntable.fm days :)
Note: found this whilst reminiscing... Miss Turntable.fm? Spotify might bring back its best feature with ‘Social Listening’
Averages are not great at determining time-based info as a single outlier can totally skew the data.
If one person spent significantly longer in the "current version" group (e.g. if they spent 30 minutes reading this page) then the avg will be way different than a tighter distribution with no outliers.
Even with similar traffic, low and high outliers can lead to false insights when looking at averages.
Median is usually more insightful than avg in this type of data set. (but I like your data-informed thinking here. Just needs some tweaking and caution.)
I have 3 separate Mac systems and 2 windows systems for personal and work.
I haven't experienced anything like what you are experiencing with your Macs. Sounds super frustrating and I wish I could give you advice on how to fix it but there is probably some faulty component there (ram most likely, maybe logic board).
I will say that IMO windows is 100000000000x more frustrating and annoying. Random shut downs for restarts, touch on the surface pros just goes completely wonky after updates, the surfaces very frequently just wakes itself up and drains the battery in your bag (and decides to cook itself by turning on in the bag and somehow using a ton of processing power), surface randomly turns on and off throughout the night and loses connections to peripherals. On top of thousands of just little things that come up here and there.
New Windows hardware is super nice (Dell XPS 13, MS Surface Laptop etc) but my god, Win 10 is so buggy and wonky IMO (and bloated).
Elementary OS is great and clean for a linux option but anything Adobe does not work on linux (or its super mega buggy for the hax to make it run...and its a ton of work). Linux is great if you get more into the browser based design tools out there today like Figma.
Good luck. Hope that helps.
This is really well done. I'm just jealous that there isn't an android and or web version :'''(
As others have said, the answer depends on your goal (and is still evolving).
If you are hoping to make a complicated sequence easy for devs to implement then I would say After Effects ONLY because of Lottie. It is the easiest way for devs to implement what you create.
If it is a more simple series of animations (and just for noodling) I prefer Principle. It is fast and lets you experiment with ideas quickly without investing much time (and devs can figure it out by looking at the animations and values from the timeline... it's just more nuanced and time-consuming and doesn't always end with a similar result).
Link to what I could find online (for others). It's actually more verbose than I expected but it does a great job of answering user questions along the journey (right before I realized I had these questions).

I guess the new trend is to make things... ugly?
God, I hope so. Finally a trend I am way ahead of.
