Dark mode seems like a rare "give the internet people what they want" move from Apple. It's not very well executed or well-considered, but I struggle with what that would even be anyway? As designers, we have to think constantly about contrast of white on dark—and after 30 minutes in Spotify's cave-like UI, for example, I am done. So I think the question really should be why was this implemented at all? The biggest flaw I see is that even when 'dark mode' is on, content is still glaringly white by comparison. I guess I just don't really get it.

Amen to this. Gary Vaynerchuk is one of the most loathsome personalities to ever emerge from the early 2000's internet fame machine. His message is poisonous, and has been the excuse for creating dozens of worthless me-too startups that hurt communities and destroy the credibility of legitimate startups with real ideas. I like DHH more than I already do for going on record as being against this hustle nonsense.

The features seem promising, but I downloaded the app and it looks incredibly janky. I'm hoping it does well enough to bring on some full-time UI/UX talent.

Most of the products in the Atlassian ecosystem, with the possible exception of Bitbucket, are over-engineered and overly complicated for what they do. I'm currently forced to use Jira for project management, and our entire organization feels that we spend more time on the administration and upkeep of the tool itself than we do with the actual project specific data it contains.

Trello is a very simple, fast tool that allows teams to get right to work; Atlassian's current implementation of kanban and agile tools are convoluted and confusing and seem to deliberately overcomplicate the task at hand to make their tools more "enterprisey". The fear here is that Trello will just get rolled into Jira in some way, removing all the things that are good about it just to provide more spit and polish to Jira.

Of course, Hacker News thinks this is fine because many on Hacker News are wannabe venture capitalists who tend to view everything through the lens of "market fit" etc. For the people using these tools, this has the potential to make people's lives more difficult. For Fog Creek, this is a really nice payday.

RIP Trello :( We can now look forward to it taking 25 seconds just to log in, followed by another 15 seconds of inscrutable redirects and refreshes.

I have to say these are better than I thought they might be. "Protocol" and "Connector" are downright cool.

Thank to both of you and sorry you caught an error. Looks like this app went to sleep at some point early this morning. I'm going to throw more dynos at it today, since I've been experiencing more traffic than I'd anticipated.

Yep, I totally agree. This is why I'm really glad to have found this community. It's hard out there for a designer :)

This is excellent feedback. Thank you! Some of these I was aware of, but others I think I was too close to see. Thanks again for checking it out.
