Lately I've been playing around with dropping the "one-". So I just use "half", "third", "quarter" etc.

A bunch of designers I know have started using Keynote to do wireframes. They love it. The recommend checking out http://keynotekungfu.com/ and http://keynotopia.com/. I haven't tried it yet. I still just use Illustrator.
This is an amazing experience. Conductor Valery Gergiev's facial expressions are my new favorite thing.
How about a Twitter feed with the top 5 posts tweeted out every day. Something small and elegant.
I typically stick with instrumental or soundtracks. I've found that lyrics can distract me. Really depends on my mood. Here's my favorite song for the week http://tinysong.com/1cgny
