This may be a little more niche, but the GSAP (greensock.js) course over at ihatetomatoes.com is a fantastic foray into javascript animation. I found that learning javascript in an animation context gave me a satisfaction with every new line of code that helped the concepts really sink in to my designer brain.

Out of curiosity, how have you managed to balance your energy between music and design? In my (admittedly limited) experience, I find that working in a creative field day to day ends up draining the batteries, and it makes sitting down and creating in a different medium a struggle sometimes.
