To me, tvOS and this new bold typography represent a new direction for iOS away from iOS 7’s core look.
Objects are more physical, bright colors are being moved from UI components to the type itself, and clearer hierarchy.
I do think that the extrabold type is an overcorrection, however. Just like iOS 7 was, in many ways. :P
But be prepared for this to be rolled out to more apps in the upcoming months/years.
I’m confused… in the end, did you use the icon fonts, or did you use SVG? The title makes me think one thing, but the post says something else…
… also, if you prefer icon fonts, CSS Tricks dived into this subject for you: https://css-tricks.com/icon-fonts-vs-svg/
Yeah what is this? Screenshot?
I agree with you on trying to reclaim it as a progress site. Good on you!
Glad they are changing things, though the new logo still has that icon… which I find unsettling.
I think it’s the chunky curve with the little ticks on the side, but the main “wave” still has a thin, thin, thin white stroke.
Aside from that, the logotype is much better.
Color-wise, the chunky type in scarlet comes across as a little Soviet Russia, but no complaints about the red.
The design is clever. The hover state that fills with your items is cool. As I “reach” toward it with my mouse (possibly showing interest) it fills with real-world items… which makes me more interested in what it could do for me.
Only some of these hover states do that, however, so I hope that they add that effect for the rest.
Well done.
First thought: I would enjoy using this concept on OS X.
Second thought: I would really enjoy using this concept on iOS even more.
Well done.
The old one was no beauty, but the new one reads as big-wall-o-text.
The decisions are all sound… it just needs way more space and even dividers. With that much text, typography alone cannot create structure.
Okay, the design itself is clever (very smooth and well illustrated, too).
The real win here is the idea. Using a quiz-app to figure out how much one values spare time, and then using that to sell services to save time?
A simple and well done campaign.
