I really want to use this, but I don't care how nice the dropdown menus look when the bar icons are just so unappealing. I only see the dropdowns every once in a while, but I would see those menu bars constantly.

"Historically after Apple hold one of these events, their stock price goes up"

That's... just not even close to true. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Paul F. Tompkins has a very well known online interview show called Speakeasy, and every time I see this I wonder who he's interviewing that would make its way on Designer News.

I like a lot of ideas that this has, and must admit i've been a really big fan of a lot of the white and clean apps that have been coming out on OS X lately. I do think that focus is a bit rough in this mockup, telling which window is in focus is difficult. The Close/Minimize/Full-Screen buttons are definitely nice looking and a lot better for those that are colorblind, but i feel like without having at least a small border or background, the implied touch targets will be a bit small, especially on minimize. It also seems to be missing a dock, which I would like to see as I would like to see a few changes to the functionality and appearance of that

Overall though, I think it has some good ideas, and is better than any of the other "flat mockups" that i've seen so far. I'm still not completely sold on the idea of a desktop os without some of the 3d elements, but this would at least be a nice gtk theme

Man, I actually really liked the shadows in the old one. I've always used it as an example of a simple logo done exceptionally well. New one is fine, but it seems people are so afraid of absolutely any character in their logos, and want them to be as simple and nondescript as possible, which is fairly disappointing to me.

I think it's worth pointing out that Paul F. Tompkins has a pretty well known interview series online also known as Speakeasy which features comedians chatting over drinks

Unfortunately, Rdio has, in my experience, lower quality music, playback issues, a smaller library and buggier apps, or I would have permanently moved to them
