We were using Basecamp for 5 years at creasoup, however we made a switch to Breeze.pm (not very happy about it, still better than Basecamp) probably we'll make another switch for ActiveCollab.

May I ask, how much traffic do you get? I survived 120.000 unique visitor / day on MediaTemple Grid server back in the days (paid some extra bucks at the end of the month though)

We're using DO for bunch of works and they began to offer "floated IP" option, which will help you to create a basic load-balancer.

You have to select $10/month droplet for one-click install wordpress, however if you have some experience with server stuff, go with $5/month droplet. It should be enough.
