Very good point. As much as I would like to be seen as the only Chris Peterson, that won't happen. A company name looks like my best option for the long run. I might start using imchrispeterson.com temporarily until I can settle on a company name to take things further.

I do have a middle name, but I don't use it anywhere. chrispetersondesign.com is taken unfortunately.

I use chrsptrsn a lot and I would say I am known by it, but mainly by friends.

I'm going to agree with Joshua. I've never been fond of hyphenated domains. I think in most cases there's always a better option.

I've seen a lot more domains like that around now, and in certain situations I like them. It might be cool to pick up but I'm not sure about using it as my primary one. I think it may confuse some people that don't know .com isn't the only extension.

Word of mouth is my biggest concern with it. With an unpronounceable name I would be pretty screwed if I didn't have a business card of piece of paper on me, and that makes it inconvenient on both ends.

iamchrispeterson.com is something I could go with, it's not too long and doesn't stray away from my name much. Right now it might be my best bet.

I rather share a name with someone famous than have everyone with my name be in the same profession haha.

When I have a chance it might be a good idea to secure some domains even if I won't necessarily be using them.

I've considered a company name in the past but I can't seem to come up with something I like that didn't end up already being in use.

Yeah, I can see that being an issue. I don't think it's as similar as your example though. Prefixes such as "the", "iam", etc are something worth looking into and I'll keep those in mind.

I am very late unfortunately and I'm trying to settle on something but I feel so limited.

I've considered it, but I rather be known by my name than work under a company name.

My concern is more with the fact that it's technically unpronounceable without vowels, so would recognition suffer? I would ideally like to make my name and the version without vowels be seen and work hand in hand.

chrispeterson.com is taken by a designer and I find the .co risky because of that.

Searching definitely! Maybe an option of choosing what type of post you are submitting, Ask DN, Site, etc.
