A subscription... to fake briefs?
Just the ability to work on the same file is great. To comment on and work on the same file in real time with it still being responsive and functional. The way they handle components/styles is also pretty well thought out with some quirks admittedly. But overall it can really feel like a refreshment just like Sketch did when it first came out.
BUT, there are some really frustrating bugs and/or features that can just irritate the hell out of you. They also don't have support for plugins which is disappointing.
If Sketch manages to clean up, rethink and iron out their styles/symbols/library and implement the same collaboration feature as Figma that will actually work, the discussion will end for me right then and there.
In the meantime, i'm waiting for Figma to step up with their shit.
Once you figure out Notion and the way you organise notes in it, it's pretty irreplaceable.
Why do you feel they're narrow? I for instance feel like Sketch is a very open tool that supports a lot of workflows with it's plugins and so on...
The right answer and path forward will be one of moderation and open-mindedness. I will strive to do better in the future as I hope we all do.

Man, I actually agree with your post from earlier and wanted to add another perspective to this whole thing. Not in a censorship sense, but that moderators maybe SHOULD be more present and vocal to serve as an example of how to communicate if things get out of hand a little bit. As they obviously did earlier this week.
I guess discussing anything over the internet and expecting a rational, thought-out, non-sarcastic response is too much to ask for. Whatever.
I think that every community needs an authority in one way or another. The authority promise/proclamation on here says the following:

Maybe the moderators should be more present and more vocal to set an example for the community. Just a thought.
The type of projects you put out there, those are the type of client inquiries you usually get back. From my personal experience. So if all you do is post visual fluff all the time without much thought to it, you're bound to get those types of superficial clients. But also if you post only toned down "non-attractive" designs, you're kind of missing out on the attention it will bring you. I try to hold a balance between those two ways of using dribbble.
I think that as a designer you should be able to do meaningful thought out things, but also be able to sell your services with some straight up marketing. After all you are competing on a market full of designers.

A hackathon isn't really a normal work situation to begin with. If you create your channels right and use threads it can be really useful. But at the end of the day it's just a tool and I think you need to make it work for your own needs.
For example I have notifications snoozed on almost every slack group and channel except for a few key ones where I do need a direct line of communication to be always open.
