Pen and paper usually. Or if its a complex flow, some basic blockframing (much better than wireframing) in Sketch and click through in invision. If it s a complex interaction, same deal except in principle or Flinto. Share them early to give people an idea.
How to symbol overrides work? Can you edit in place?
If you copy a library symbol to another file that also uses that library, it won't duplicate the symbol
Looks to me that if you add a library it's available to all files. I don't see any way to copy and paste a symbol from one file to another without unlinking it from the library. I'm on the beta though. Have they fixed this in the release?
Enormous. By the time it takes that person to carve out and colour in their cardboard iPhone, you could have a working prototype in Invision that you can put on a real device in front of someone.
This is ridiculous
More setup and planning required. But so much more powerful. Its really amazing.
Only if you are curious. You wont move over from Sketch. The tool is just too clunky. They've also removed the data driven-ness that was one of its selling points in the kickstarter (for me anyway). To focus on other things.
Nice layout engine though. Wish they had something similar in Sketch.
Congrats on the release. Definitely a step in the right direction. Any plans on abstracting things like animations, states, scrollviews etc out into the design mode? I love the idea of setting up the base layout in design mode and tweaking in code. But what about setting up states and animations in design mode and tweaking their interaction in the code view? Is this something you guys are considering?
"…context is lost when people only look at the screens"
So you're losing work because of visuals, not process?
Regardless of how the product ends up on the store/web, you should be able to stand behind what you put in your portfolio. Show them the projects at the point where you you were happy with the quality of the visuals, not the end result that might have gotten messed up along the way.
