The design for conference sites is usually pretty bland and formulaic.
Really like what Jack McDade did with this one. Super fun. (And, as a child of the 80's, I really dig all the NES references)
Love that intro story. I can definitely relate.
Thank you!
Thank you!
A little background: I wanted to switch my site off of WordPress, and my friend Jack offered to redesign it.
But... I wanted to keep the brutalist aesthetic. (I still get quite a bit of traffic from pages like this)
So we worked on making the site look like an old punk rock zine. (Complete with photocopied images, tweets, etc...)
I know it won't be for everyone, but I really dig it.
I switched to Statamic CMS from WordPress, and I'm hosting it on Digital Ocean (using Laravel Forge).
I can't tell you how many times I've wanted this. I use dev tools all the time to make mockups, show clients modifications, etc... This is exactly what I need.
I can completely identify with this sentiment:
I had failure after failure—every idea looked great as a sketch but completely fell apart when I began the design. And, I found that I wasn’t able to judge my work clearly. I’d fall in love with an idea, only to come back the next day and realize how terribly wrong I’d been.
There are a lot of different types of freelancers. Designers have different needs when it comes to pitching their clients.
This is true.
