Nick D‘s weekly newsletter always makes me stop to reflect. Same with James T. Green’s “Studio Visit”. They‘re both introspective designers in Chicago who don’t send top-graphic-design-CSS-trick roundup emails, but messages that feel like actual letters.

I’ve been adding more women to my timeline lately and it’s been WONDERFUL. The topics discussed, the jokes made, the gorgeous selfies—they’ve all made me enjoy being on Twitter again. And following a diverse crowd of women and hearing their experiences has made me more empathetic and notice my own privilege as a white woman.

The author discusses clearly (very clearly, the text is bolded in each instance) why certain design decisions are made. Typography guidelines for size and weight, color/visual embellishment hazards, and the grid's structure were determined through repeated testing and the limitations & standards of the hardware itself.
