Out of curiosity, are you using a VPN while trying to preview your prototype?
I just sent a bug report to the Sketch team via their customer support form and included a screen recording along with console log dump of Sketch activity.
Maybe if more people do the same they'll get it ironed out.
Anyone else getting a black preview window inside Sketch? I've disabled all plugins but that didn't seem to change anything.
Looks pretty slick, but the preview is not working for me even with the most basic of examples. It just shows up blank.
BUT – if I "Share" it and then view it on Protowire's Cloud, I can see it that way ...
Looking in Sketch's console logs reveals at least 1 identifiable Protowire error:
network failure: Error Domain=NSURLErrorDomain Code=-1003 "A server with the specified hostname could not be found." UserInfo={NSUnderlyingError=0x604001a47140 {Error Domain=kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork Code=-1003 "A server with the specified hostname could not be found." UserInfo={NSErrorFailingURLStringKey=https://api.mixpanel.com/engage/, NSErrorFailingURLKey=https://api.mixpanel.com/engage/, _kCFStreamErrorCodeKey=8, _kCFStreamErrorDomainKey=12, NSLocalizedDescription=A server with the specified hostname could not be found.}}, NSErrorFailingURLStringKey=https://api.mixpanel.com/engage/, NSErrorFailingURLKey=https://api.mixpanel.com/engage/, _kCFStreamErrorDomainKey=12, _kCFStreamErrorCodeKey=8, NSLocalizedDescription=A server with the specified hostname could not be found.}
Any ideas?
From what I understand Forestry doesn't support Gatsby static sites. Any insight into if this is something we can expect moving forward?
Hey, congrats on the site. It looks really clean and I always love the experience of a static generated site. The JAMStack is where it's at!
After reading your post, I thought I should mention a couple technologies I recently stumbled across during my research into finding the right static site setup for myself.
You mentioned that you're using Buddy and it looks like they charge $49/month for the same service that Netlify offers for free and also includes hosting. I've been testing it out with the Hugo static site framework (which has CRAZY fast build times) and it's been flawless. And FREE! Did I mention it's all free? ;)
You also mentioned having some fear of the terminal (totally understandable) and there's another amazing service that offers an online GUI to manage your static site contents called Forestry. Coming from WordPress it can be nice to have an editor that isn't a terminal or desktop IDE. It integrates with Jekyll or Hugo as well as Netlify, and every time you make an update, it makes a commit to your repo, runs your build commands, and auto deploys. Oh, and it's totally free too!
Just thought I'd mention them in the event it saves you some $. Cheers!

Good news! There's a confirmed fix for this issue coming out in v49.1. I spent a good bit of time with their QA team and the devs have successfully fixed it. Won't be long now.
