You should definitely check out stock.tookapic.com. It now has more than 11,000 photos. The image collection is powered by people running their 365 projects (one photo a day for a year) on tookapic.com. This means we update the stock part with 50-80 photos every day.

Sure, there are some really amateur photos, that you wouldn't use even as a background for a Comic Sans tagline. But there are now 2.5k curated images available. there. And by curated, I really mean it. I'm the one who handpicks them every day.

Majority of the pics are free and licensed under CC0. There are some premium ones, but they cost just $3.75 to $5.00.

I am a designer myself, and I haven't used any other stock site in a very, very long time.

I've been looking for a Chrome extension that would display real time visitors in Google Analytics tab. Couldn't find one, so we made a simple bookmarklet that lets you track any realtime counter in the minimized tab.

The whole thing was ready in just few hours, including designing and coding the landing page. Nothing fancy, but does the job.

Most of the pics there are from tookapic. I know, because I'm the one behind tookapic. Skuawk even used my photo in their header, which is cool, according to the license. But what's weird is that the site is just few selected photos from tookapic and few additional pics. They didn't even bother to curate the collection a bit more neatly.
