Restart Sketch to re-enable all your plugins, including Pointbreak.
Be weary of what you read or watch in the media about the next financial crisis. Since 2008 the media has been full of predictions of the next crash. I don't think we will have another financial crisis on the scale of 2008 so soon but a recession is due. They generally occur every 10 years but some say it won't arrive until 2020.
Yes, you can share your prototype online. The prototype screens are bookmarkable so you can link to a particular screen. With the pro version you can also upload the prototype to your own server.
Does it have more interactions then Craft has or same ones?
By interactions do you mean screen transitions?
Would protowire be able to do (or in future) micro interactions skipping apps like protopie or principle.
You can do micro interactions but it's currently not as powerful as Principle. I'm currently working on developing it further. The ultimate aim would be to facilitate any prototyping task with just Sketch and the plugin.
Hi David,
It's possible there is a conflict with an existing service running on your computer. If you send me a message by going to Plugins > Protowire > Contact Support in Sketch or via my website I can look into it further.
can't you utilize Launchpad for the same prototyping purposes out of Sketch for the responsive web?
Yes you can but Protowire aims to be a general prototyping tool rather than being just for websites i.e. it also supports apps.
From what I can tell from the demo, it otherwise works similar to Invision's hotspot/prototyping solution except with generated HTML
Protowire also allows you to animate properties of layers e.g. blur or fill color.
Are there any future additions we should be aware of? Looks like you should be able to do a lot more than that now that you're able to generate code out of the Artboards.
Prototyping is quite a broad area so yes I will be adding new features in the coming months. I prefer not to say what they are, so I can change priorities based on user feedback.
I haven't used Anima Timeline but from what I can judge from the website, it's more focused on standalone animations for things like banner ads and newsletters. Protowire on the other hand is about creating interactive prototypes and UI animations are a part of that.
Launchpad is for creating finished websites while Protowire is for prototyping apps and websites. To preview a website in Launchpad you need to upload it to their webapp first while with Protowire it's generated locally so updates are quicker to preview.
The highly competitive market and the right incentive structure has led the market to create open source software that is perfectly solid and sold for free.
People generally create open source software for themselves or their company. There isn’t much open source design tools because most designers don’t code.
Maintaining an open source project can be a fairly thankless job. I wouldn’t see it as some magical source of free software. Someone is giving up their evenings and weekends to work on it for free.
