Flat design existed long before it was a buzz word.
Just as Apple might have popularized skeuomorphic interface, Windows 8 for example might be a champion example of flat design in the mainstream.
What is good flat design? What is good skeuomorphism?

I like the timeline aspect. The top calendar portion feels a bit crushed up there but I know there is limited space to work with. A fine balance :)
Sounds like you need a brand guide... ?
