I personally updated Sketch. The bug fixes around performance and new features were good. I wonder if in a year when it's even more stable if that will still be the case, but for now it's worth it to me.

I think it's more about; should designers start to understand 3D space. Which is really the leap needed when going from flat world to 3D world.

To me it's more about should designer's start to understand architecture, because they've mastered the use of space already.

In regards to 3D modeling, there is such a wide breadth of stock content out there, that it doesn't seem like as big of a requirement as learning the fundamentals of using and designing space.

A good example is: When you enter a common drug store, what's the info architecture all about, what's presented first to lead you to the next level? That's the type of questions designers are best at visualizing and problem solving around.

Great to hear! Yeah, we're starting with the simpler interaction models first, like gazed base fuse cursors for mobile and cardboard, so that it's easier to dive in. Over time, and as the hardware becomes more prominent and affordable we'll be adding support for 3DoF and 6DoF controllers.

Right now the app is focused on WebVR. Primarily mobile and mobile with Google Cardboard, as well as desktop browser VR/3D, since those are the easiest to pick up. There's been some big announcements the past few weeks on the AR side, even for the web, so we'll be investigating those workflows as the technology get's better and more prominent.

For photography: Affinity Photo is quiet good and very affordable, but definitely closer to Photoshop than Lightroom. As a Lightroom user I've yet to find an alternative, so the $10 CC subscription (Photoshop and Lightroom) is a good cheaper alternative to the full one. My main issue with finding alternatives to Lightroom is that most of the filter providers, and camera companies like Fuji and Mastin Labs / Vsco only have presets and profiles for Lightroom...

Loved that app, nostalgia from around 2009. They really paid attention to making it feel like an OSX app, with the design and a little character in the icons. Great to see them back!
