Thanks, I didn't know about this. But is it really a new service? Seems like it's been around for a while:
Someone sent it to me saying it was a new service. I just took their word for it and searched for it on here, found no results so assumed he was right.
Yep, this become available when Adobe announced CC and their new products.
in defense of the OP, it seems that no one knew this existed.
Leave it to Adobe to go and bloat their font angle. Why not use Typekit as the one stop shop? Seems redundant.
Google Webfonts FINALLY has a competitor? Edge Fonts came out in September of last year..
Read the thread. People make mistakes. Not everyone knows everything about the internet like you do.
"Be nice. Or else."
To be fair, that's pretty nice of me.
Wasn't saying that in a mean way. Just specifying that it's not new.
umm - the service has been around for a while :)

Yes, we already established that in this thread.
It also appears that not very many people knew about it, so maybe you could have posted about it when you heard about it.
Oh, the first link was to an update earlier this year. I was just pointing out the service has been around for over a year :)
Which is to say, something must have gone wrong with how that service was promoted/announced if this is the first time people have heard of it?
Not sure if want. Mostly because it's the same fonts.
Typekit recently announced they teamed up with Google Web Fonts so you can load Google Web Fonts into Typekit.
But now this? Would it be the same thing or is it just getting messy?
Is this a sign-up thing? I couldn't find out if edgeweb needed some sort of account. That's what makes Google fonts so attractive, no account necessary (and thus no way for passwords to be leaked/stolen).
Nope, it doesn't require an account. More info on it is available here: https://edgewebfonts.adobe.com/index
How much of these overlap with google fonts? Are there any that are unique to this collection that I am not seeing at first glance?

sounds like it's the same fonts.
Lipstick on a pig...
Welp, I look like an idiot. Still, I'll be sticking with Google.
No you don't! The google fonts interface is incredibly frustrating. It's interesting to see Adobe lend the Typekit browsing filters to the google font library. Even if the content is the same, it's a novel approach based on proven attributes. Whether the service brings anything new to the table or not, it's an excellent example of solution-oriented design. +1 for sharing!
Seconded. Nobody looks like a fool in this one. I wonder what Google gains here though. Statistics? Reduced hosting costs?
Although I'm not quite sure about the use of script over link.
