This looks promising. I'm optimistic that we're reaching a cohesion point with all of our tools. This feels a lot like Webflow but for React, and seems to have an easier-to-approach way to create margins, constraints, padding, and stateful components than Framer X.

I feel like the big players are heading towards this direction too, but I'm keeping an eye on this one.

      Thanks Tony!

You're right, Modulz is similar to Webfow, with a much stronger focus on design systems, component-driven design/dev and modern tooling like React, CSS-in-JS etc.

    Hey everyone, Modulz cofounder here!

For more info, you could check out our website or Twitter.

I'd love to take any questions or hear any feedback you might have.

To me Modulz sounds like a really cheap toy, and your product looks nice and well made and professional, so there is a disconnect between the name and the actual product.

It has been breaking my heart for 18 months now. I had a $1k bounty out a while ago to find a new name, which failed miserably. So, I guess the $1k is still on offer if you wanna take a crack at it :)

Not sure man. Names are like colours - Everyone has their favourites with no real justification for it. I just think using a 'z' cheapens anything. Maybe just module. modules?. Modular? Or you can use this haha

Hehe, believe me, I've already resorted to searching those kinda sites!

We can't just spell it normally, we need a good domain name and twitter handle. :/

Did some quick research on "architecture terms", since I feel like this is a good metaphor. The word Juncture came up and is interesting. Here's the description:

Juncture: This is how different materials intersect, which ultimately influences how the building will age or if any maintenance issues will come up. If the juncture between the building siding and a window isn’t correct, it’ll cause leaking.

I think there's an interesting parallel there – where different materials meet – and how design and code meet.

Quick/easy fix: Replace the Z with an A. Modula (mod-you-lah) sounds way better than Modulz. Bonus: If you don't pronounce R's (UK, Australian accents, etc) It sounds the same as "Modular" :) I actually thought it was pronounced like "Modals" before watching the video.

I had the same reaction to the name (the "z", of course). Just puts a bit of an obstacle up, as if launching a new product doesn't have enough in the way of mass adoption! <3

Super excited about Modulz and I have been pointing all the designers/devs I know towards your Medium articles about design tools. Keep up the great work!

This looks really cool! Like others have said it reminds me of Webflow.

I just backed this for $99... I think the reward of lifetime access + updates is absolutely incredible. I got very excited by the video on the kickstarter page - and I really hope this is a big success.

I've unfortunately lost a lot of love for Framer recently because they seem to have gone a different direction, and it feels like it's aimed more at devs than designers who aren't great with code. So seeing this made me really rather excited as it seems to really shoot for the true problem of reducing the gap from design to development.

      Thanks Rhys, that's awesome!

You're right, this is absolutely aimed at people who don't want to type code manually. It's crazy that we're still drawing static pictures of interactive components. It's so easy to produce a much more powerful output without sacrificing creativity!

I want to like this but I remember what happened to Macaw and Subform seems to have gone quite again (not in the beta is perhaps it's still quite active, just no public info of late). Also, I'm not sure I want a tool that is so tied to one form of output, in this case React, as web tools change frequently.

I hear you Stuart. It's often a risk with startups. So many cool products have been swallowed up.

Regarding the code output, Modulz stores the component data in JSON and maps it to React. But it's not "tied to" any specific library at all. It just requires additional work to support new libraries, which we're planning to do over time.

It's much more closely tied to component-driven development, which is a good thing imo.

Good to hear. I'll keep an eye on this. I want a web flow like app not tied to a browser, and preferably not yet another online account either.

Looks great! Is there anyway to sign up for early access without contributing to Kickstarter? + Will you have a Slack Channel or Spectrum community?
