Bleh, symbol overrides have to be based on existing layer or text styles. This would be fine if making layer and text styles in Sketch wasn't so miserable. In Figma you can override parts of a component with whatever you want, AND making new Fill/Stroke/Text/Whatever styles is far easier.
What does it look like? Any screenshots?
I was wondering the same thing, and just saw this below, which has some: https://www.designernews.co/stories/97343-sketch-52-quick-review
Beware, Runner breaks 52 Beta... I'm sad...
Eh, without Runner there's no point :/
Ah, don't be like this... it's worthI wouldn't go that far.
Sketch team, please reduce the vertical height of the top toolbar.
You can turn it off from either View menu or by pressing ⌘+⌥+T.
Here's a little write up of the new style overrides:
Not perfect yet, but this is a really huge and useful improvement :)
It finally got everything I always asked for <3 <3 <3
Dark mode seems to be limited to Mojave...bad news for those of us in larger product companies where macOS updates are slow to roll out! ☹️
Sketch Midnight?
Of course it's limited to Mojave – it's built upon native technology that comes with it. Otherwise there would be no dark mode.
I was about to buy Sketch to try my hand in web design.
Is it better to wait for Sketch 52 before I make a purchase?
Doesn't matter honestly. Their license models allows you to get 1 year of updates, but you can always keep using your last version. If you buy Sketch 52 you'll get the free update, and any other update for a full year.
If you are trying your hand at web design I would recommend using Figma. It's free and very powerful.
No need to spend money if you just want to try things. Try Figma. It's free, works in a web browser, and is constantly being improved. You won't be disappointed.
Interesting. Midnight can no longer be used to desaturate icons though.
