I have a serious question for iPhone users... How often do you use Siri?
I personally hate it and try to disable it on my phone. Every year I try it and never works. Especially find it frustrating when it kicks on when I don't want it. I asked my colleagues as well and they said no. Which lets me wonder who uses it?
I use Siri multiple times per day, but the main reason for that is because I have Hue light everywhere and use Siri to turn them off in a room I'm not in or to turn all the lights off when I go to bed.
The only other things I use Siri for is to set timers while cooking (which kinda sucks as you can only set one timer) and to call people so I don't have to look for them in the contacts app.
If it weren't for my lights I would have disabled Siri too though, because it's just doesn't understand me half the time and constantly kicks on at the office and even when watching videos with audio on the phone itself.
Peculiar, how does it kick in by itself for you guys? Happens very rarely to me.
For some reason it just happens often when I watch a video using the phones speakers. And it's not because someone in the video is saying something which sounds like "hey siri", it just happens with any kind of video of somebody talking. Never happens when listening to music on the phones speakers though.
At the office my phone is on a dock on my desk so it can hear me well, so sometimes (not that often) when I'm talking it thinks I said "hey siri". I can understand those mistakes, but the one when watching videos is way more annoying, especially as it takes over the whole screen too.
I use it very often, mostly through the Watch to query for weather, quickly texting someone, starting & changing workout types, setting timers, triggering calls, controlling lights, doing currency conversions...
Mostly for queries that'd take multiple steps, lot of typing, etc. But I concur, I'm also one of the few people who actively use it. Many of my friends feel awkward doing it.
Is it having trouble recognizing your queries? Or why do you hate it?
Clear, bold, consistent, smooth. Love it.
I don't know why but I've never really liked the masonry grid layout. The fact that they aren't vertically aligned bothers me so much. It makes it harder to scan/read easily and feels unbalanced in a way.
Hmm.. there’s a link to download the Shortcuts app, and it links to Workflow in the App Store. (Yes, I know Apple bought Workflow)
Since Shortcuts is literally built on the Workflow codebase and is not going to be included in the OS it will probably ship as an update to the Workflow app.
Scrolling on this is tragic. Literally unusable.
Edit: And wow, apple fan boys out there seriously down voting me because of my opinion/experience with Siri page..
Is it laggy/slow for you?
Check your tech/setup. Or do you really think Apple pushed a marketing page to the world without browser testing?
I just tested on a 2013 midrange MacBook Air, and an old iPhone 6. Smooth as silk.
It's definitely not "smooth as silk" on most devices I've tried - and no, Apple clearly doesn't prioritize browser testing across devices for pure performance. Their Mac Pro page is a great example of that. I've never seen a browser where it rendered nicely and smoothly, but nonetheless they shipped it because it's "cool."
I'm browsing on a brand new 2018 15" MacBook Pro.
Hmm, seems okay for me (and not sure Apple would want to ship unusable websites). What are you experiencing?
