I think it looks visually beautiful, though I'm not sure how well it communicates what LayerVault actually is anymore (talking specifically about the redesign of LayerVault itself).

Previously, when I stumbled across LayerVault's website I, quite quickly, picked up on what it was and why it would be perfect for our company. Now, I'm not sure I would get that same reaction unless I spent quite a bit of time reading.

In any case, I love the animations and the visual feel, so well done there :)

Also, are you guys ditching the painting/vault logo then? That makes me sad if so, I loved it.

I don't recall the previous site, but now there is absolutely no way to see what the product is and looks like.

Having to sign-up to see anything is a pretty big barrier that most are not willing to do ( including me ). The user needs to imagine themselves using the product and a list of features doesn't really do enough IMO.

Absolutely beautiful, I wish more sites would take their own path like this and stand out.

Why the shift from SVG animations to HTML5 video? I'm not judging here, I'm just curious.

Original, unique and pretty.... but I can't see what the product looks like and what it does, which normally makes me leave a site even if there's some kind of free trial.

Guys, I have a weird bug with the videos on my work PC. Latest Windows Chrome gives me this.

New site looks beautiful. It's pretty unconventional with how thin the container is but as always with Layervault, it's so simple and it just works.

    Amazing.

I feel like this has drifted from an informative public site to an art-piece. I'm loving the looks of it, but are you certain the lack of information is a good thing?

      There are hover states:

      cursor: pointer;

They're just not what you're used to seeing, which can sometimes be a good thing.

what? that's exactly what i'm used to seeing. the bare minimum of what i'm used to seeing. i'm so used to seeing it that i didn't even notice it.

I meant just cursor: pointer is not what you're used to seeing. Your comment was phrased as though you were were saying there were no hover states. I'm just pointing out that there are hover states, just not the type you're used to.

Allan has been doing without traditional hover states for some time now, this is not a recent change.

lack of a hover state is not a hover state. cursor: pointer is default browser behavior, not a hover state. relying solely on this is really bad for usability.

though, there must be a good reason for this. or is it form over function?
