I must say, experience on 13" display is not very ideal. I can't see images that are appearing in bottom rectangles. Would be much better if it would scale down/up while I'm resizing, not just clipping.

So I need to interact with this player for 50 some what minutes in order to see the entire documentary (constantly resizing panes to see every 'medium'), while paying attention to what is being said (in all kinds of languages, so sometimes I need to read while resizing)..? Yeah... no.

It's look great, it's cool and it's definitely creative.. but IMO, this player's experience is the opposite of user friendly.

Nice! I was wondering how long it would take to make my own player on this way. I guess that it could be easily done modifying a js library that adds .srt subs to a video.

Could we please return to a time where UI was intuitive, and buttons were clearly buttons?

The player itself is bound to attract it's own set of comments. But that 'begin the experience' button, if you could even call it that, just detracted from the whole deal for me. Personally - and feel free to disagree - but personally I found this design lazy.

Hey, if we return further back to the early 90's flash interfaces we'll also find some spirit on it. The user has been educated at the point in which we are now, to play a bit won't hurt anybody.

Apart from that yes, I would reserve some space on my personal gulag for people that use the word "experience" on that way.

I'm a pretty experienced UI/HMI developer, and it took me an inappropriately long amount of time to work out that the button - which has zero design difference to the rest of the header text - was a button.

Any tiny amount of change to the style could have made it a bit more obvious, I don't agree that something being >completely devoid of style< could be considered "playing" with the style, lol :)

Initially I got same opinion, but then I thought may be the whole idea is to force user to read this "manual" before starting player itself.

Pretty sick player. Really love the video itself too.

I dig the concept of this player. Agree with the comments that in this form is not "quite" useful. One thing I had in my mind after few min playing around with it, was that boxes you are resizing could also be interactive. So you can digest more content at the same time, kind of like YouTube on mobile where you can slide and browse other videos while watching your video. Same here, other boxes could have related material such as articles, pictures gallery etc. kind of like mini browser inside but tailored for a specific theme. Great exploration and INSPIRATION would love to see how this evolve! :)

While unique and interesting the actual UX of reading translations and watching the video didn't turn out well :(

UX wise yeah they could get rid of the dot, but it makes it kind of playful.

I disagree. Without the dot it is just a static grid layout. The user needs a control to ‘grab’ on to and I believe the dot does this in an unobtrusive way.

Well, thats's a created need. They could adapt the size of the images to fit the cells instead of giving them a fixed size, it could still be resizable if you like. Anyway I don't complain, the primarily pursuit of functionality on interface design is getting boring.
