I realised recently (got the idea from this site) that if you change your background colour to #171717 (R:23 G:23 B:23) the menu bar will blend in with the background seamlessly for an extra minimalistic look.
Nice find. Only works if your menu doesn't autohide.
If you have autohide on that becomes super-minimal.
And you get ultra-minimal when you turn macbook off, entire screen goes #000000.
My current wallpaper is #000000
Autohide on menubar and dock(bar). And you can use whatever background you want ;)
You can also use the eyedrop tool to grab the color of the menu bar! #242424 worked a little bit better on my monitor.
That didn't work on my screen but I see it's going to be different for everyone depending on their monitors. Nice find.
For my case the slightly different tint (#1E1E1E) worked perfectly fine.
I suppose it depends on the screen itself. Also when I made an image of it (as opposed to selecting a solid colour in OSX) I had to use a slightly different colour, presumably because of how PS exports it.
I don't know if it's my brightness, but on mobile I can still see a difference
Hm it could be different displays, but anyway if it doesn’t work on your mac, just fine tune the values incrementally.
I love this look (also have this setup). You can also hide your desktop icons, use bartender to hide your menu bar apps, and auto-hide your dock for a super minimalistic look.
This breaks on MacOS Mojave
I think it's to do with the monitor, not the OS, someone else said for them #1E1E1E worked. Just play with it in the RGB sliders until you find the right shade. I think in your case it needs to be lighter so maybe R:24 G:24 B:24 or R:25 G:25 B:25.
Speaking of Mojave though, do you know if there's a way to keep the menu bar dark without turning on system wide dark mode?
