Design is nice. Whitespace is good too. Your type work is really nice as well. You need to explain the projects a bit better though. try adding some text under each image. I didnt realise what I was looking at. I know you probably know what you did, but to me it just looked like a bunch of screenshots of an iphone looking at emails.
I agree with James Young: the biggest issue I have with it is the amount of 'wasted' whitespace, it's too big and too much. I like the minimalistic and clean approach, but like this it makes it really hard to get a feel of you as a designer and what you do. Secondly I think you could add a touch of personality with a color or some style-elements and still retain the clean feel.
Keep up the good work though!
Please don't spam DN to plug your site. You just posted this ten hours ago: https://www.designernews.co/stories/95424-
Sorry if it appears that way, unintentional – that post didn't work correctly and no option to delete unfortunately. I've been on DN 5+ years, and have never spammed.
Don't worry about it. Ken M just tries to make snide comments on every post possible. https://www.designernews.co/users/42864/ken-m-no-not-that-one#tab-comments
so do I - yet he is right to point this out, because many people do that.
To be honest, I couldn't get past the images swimming/floating around with my mouse movement. It was sort of making me nauseous like I was dizzy and things in my vision were moving slightly and I didn't know why. I had to close the tab so I didn't throw up. Just some feedback.
I'm a fan of the minimalist design however your link text has a failing colour contrast ratio (1.94:1 using WebAIM colour contrast checker). I would perhaps consider a more striking colour for your links for people with a colour vision deficiency.
^ I read this in a robot voice. Nerd!
"Be nice, or else."
I'm on a pretty big monitor and it's very hard to get much of a feel for your work as there's a massive amount of scrolling required to see a few phone screens presented without any real project context.
It feels like a lot of wasted space on most screen sizes when at least showing a couple side by side would be easier to scan.
This is what I currently see as I scroll. I guess it would feel more informative if there was even a bit of description about what you did on a project or each screen as I simply don't know at this point.
:)
I really like the portfolio and how you highlight each project by placing a good amount of white space around each item. I have a lot of projects I've worked on and I still struggle to figure out a way to visually display my experience.
I tried to look up information on the Mail Simple (?) product in the screenshots that are depicted here, and found nothing. Is it a real product? Is it just a concept? This site provides no information or context.
It really misses crucial information. As it is right now, one could question the existence of the website at all when there is instagram.
The work is great but:
My finger really hurts from scrolling and I still don't really understand what it is you did for these clients.
Your portfolio is very handsome and the work featured is absolutely solid. But what do you want it to do for you?
It could be, you simply mean for this to be an online calling card for professional contacts you meet out in the world. If that's the case, this design is fantastic.
But if you're hoping that this portfolio will help you get work, or land a job, it's not a great solution.
As a hiring manager, a candidate's portfolio has to do one thing right away: It should demonstrate that the candidate has the necessary skills I'm looking for. And very few product design jobs involve visual UI design but nothing else.
So show me more of your process. Show me how you think about user flows and narratives. Show me how you conduct research and testing. Show me how you evaluate the success of a feature. Show me how you interact with cross-disciplinary team members.
Very clean, very nice.
