The minisite of GT America is so pretty (gt-america.com)

What a nice site with just two colors and a single typeface! And the animations are great. I love the cowboy peanut and the bubblegum kid :)
Just saw a hand for the first 3 seconds so I closed the tab. Can't believe our industry thinks it's cool to have these multi-second loading indicators again.
Thank you for your feedback, we value your opinion.
I initially thought it was a loading screen but when I closed the tab and went back, the hand reappeared, albeit for a slightly shorter time. I really didn't see anything on the site that really necessitated a loading screen either. Granted, it was hard to see anything given the jarring reflex blue and bright red everywhere, but trends ¯_(ツ)_/¯
\ you dropped this
Man. Designer news is filled with such absolutists. Its embarrassing.
That counting hand is so enjoyable to watch tho. I went back just to watch it again.
At first, I opened the site and was a little disappointed by the wait time. Yet, I feel that most designers will only make a user wait if it's worth it. And, technically speaking, it's difficult to build a site that takes a long time to load that's not actually loading something while the user waits. But I digress...
After waiting for admission I was ambushed by #0028ff and what I thought was straight up #ff0000 (turns out it's #ff2800). Initially I was skeptical, it made me make a face.
But then it hit me. This site has already done more than many sites do, it has made me feel. It evoked... emotion. Like...
... the best music in the world...
... the best books in the world....
... throughout time. Here, now, tomorrow and forever more.
"Fuck, that's actually cool."
Quickly, the time I spent waiting for the site to load it's array of mp4's wasn't time spent at my workstation, I was standing in line! I could smell the corn dogs, popcorn, and cotton candy! I could hear the Santa Cruz roller coasters, the waves hit the beach, and the distant sound of an arcade. I could feel the time and it felt like 89.
It took me back on this little stroll down memory lane with bubble gum comic strips and cheap cut-out paper planes with simple red and blue graphics. Bold colors, restrictive palettes, halftone shading, crazy offset margins. It took me back to my huffy and comic book stores and homework and family and back when everything I was about was what I've spent my life trying to get back to!
Like most things in my life I have come to love the most, I initially had my doubts. Experience has taught me to be patient with these things. Don't get turned off by the first thing you think about whatever, you might not get it yet.
If I didn't let art/design/music/film do it's thing before I formed an opinion, I would have missed out on Daft Punk. I would have put down Prince after one "Oooo!" I would have walked out of the Dieter Rams exhibit because it was too white and I was into powerful color at the time. Ultimately, I would have given up on my own design pursuits because I honestly sucked for like 20 years.
So, thank you for sharing, Giulio Michelon! And very much thank you Noël Leu! Don't forget Seb McLauchlan! Smooth animations, Josh Schaub. Clean clean clean site Grilli Type!
Woha that's the best I ever had from a link share
Personally, I don't like it. shrug
really? This physically hurts me. I am not even kidding - my immediate reaction was to look away. The colors are so stark in contrast that I can feel a physical sensation. I like the rest of site, but the color contrast hurts me.
Its a nice design, but yeah, the loading time and indicator are a bummer.
That's a sharp d*ck
Nice site, love the style! Only drawback is it feels like I'm watching the site with a magnifying glass on desktop, unless I resize my browser to portrait.
Great job, unique and I will definitely remember it :) Love the illustrated animations, they add so much live into it :)
Are you planning to make similar websites for other typefaces? :)
Yep, most of our typefaces released in the last few years have minisites. And we’ll release a new one in the coming weeks :)
Also almost 1000 USD for the full family font....are these prices for agencies or individuals?
Both agencies and individuals.
Well done.. really liked the overall appearance and those type animations are just so awesome! Like it and it does stand out!
Super Nice, load time, worth it :)
While watching this I kinda heard Gans of New York's "parade" tune in the back of my head :')
