Best app for holding library of screen grabs, inspo images?

I know this question is asked all the time, here, but I never feel i've got a good fit.

What's your preferred app for collecting a library of screen shots? Inspiration pics you find online, and reference pics.

I've used InBoard, but its a drainer to back up and migrate, and is not cloud aware in 2018 (I know right).

I feel Dropmark is a bit too expensive for what it is.

Raindrop.io - you cant upload a screenshot image from an iPhone.

Im happy to host my own, even pay for a service, but the value has to be there.

All I want is a straightforward image library to dump things into and tag them up. Love it to be synced via the cloud if possible.

Please recommend!

    I was going to say I’ve had success with using Pixave in the past (http://www.littlehj.com) but I don’t think there’s an iPhone app - just desktop and iPad iOS. Might be worth checking out though.

      I was using Pixave for awhile but I really prefer a masonry style layout so that I can see full length website / mobile app screenshots.

      Because of that, I'm using Inboard now. It has its issues, like no cloud sync, but it's much easier to quickly browse inspiration.

      Invision Boards are also have a nice masonry layout.

    Milanote is an awesome web app for storing images, notes, URLs and such which you can sort into boards, and even boards within boards. No native iOS client but it may work for you or someone else reading this. You can see some good examples of how it is used here - https://www.milanote.com/inspiration.

    I'm a recent Raindrop.io convert and love it so far (I'd been using Pinterest until then).

    Didn't realize you weren't able to upload from iOS, that seems like a bit of a bummer. I imagine you could easily nab image from Image Capture or a text, but that seems like a workaround you shouldn't need to do.

      I use Raindrop for Bookmarks and love it. For saving images, however, I find it a bit inefficient because you need multiple clicks to add tags and description.

      When this question was asked last time (I guess last week :D) someone mentioned https://eagle.cool/ and I tried it yesterday: Very nice, fast, great feature set (maybe even better than Pixave, though I don't know that one very good) but with a 30$ price tag also a little bit on the pricey side.

        I've also been testing Eagle. Pretty great tool so far, though I do wish it had a little more english language support. But so far it seems the best bang for the buck. A native iOS/Android app would be great as well, and seems like something they are working on.

          Yeah - While I dont need to view and browse on iOS as such, the ability to quickly add photos and screenshots as it happens is a big selling point. I wonder if they have a native app in mind...

    I have been using Pixave for about a year now. It's nice to have everything offline (with iCloud/dropbox sync) and a one-time app purchase fee instead of another subscription.

    Tagging, folders, screengrab works quite well. Haven't tried the iPad app yet.

    Hmm I've tried a bunch of inspiration grabbing solutions Ember, Inboard, Pixave, Evernote, Pinterest, Niice, Raindrop.io and Dropmark.

    What I've learned is the Mac app solutions (Ember, Inboard and Pixave) have a flaky sync solution (if they have one at all). I often found something I saved at work was rarely synced to my home computer.

    Neither Evernote, Pinterest or Niice seemed to work either. Evernote's sync is pretty good though I use it too much for notes that having screengrabs made my list look messy — I'm sure it's possible though depending on how you use evernote? As for Pinterest and Niice, I didn't think it was easy enough for me to just take screenshots and have them uploaded.

    Now Raindrop and Dropmark I tried at the same time. I was subscribed to Raindrop and it was awesome. Though I switched to Dropmark a month or so later because the workflow was just faster for me. I think Raindrop has come a long way but Dropmark is perfect for me.

    As for it being too expensive… I dunno. It's $5 a month. Well worth it in my books as I use it multiple times a day.

      Thanks, Richard - i'll take a look at paying for Dropmark. At the end of the day, its 2018, and it cant be sustainable for companies to keep providing these services for free!

      As I mentioned above the masonry layout is an important one for me, but its all about that ease of uploading and cataloguing on any device.

        Yeah, I reached the same conclusion that if I find it's a service I use a lot, I'll just need to pay for it. Otherwise it'll just end up getting abandoned.

        I know exactly where you're coming from though. If you're anything like me, you've got a fairly sized stack of subscriptions so adding one more needs to be worthwhile.

        Dropmark does have a masonry layout but I personally prefer distinct rows… I have a bunch of differently sized screen grabs and sometimes the smaller ones get lost in the mix.

        Both Dropmark and Raindrop have trials though. I recommend trying both and seeing which is better (before you invest too much in one). Raindrop is cheaper and looks like it's come a long way. I've gone too far into Dropmark (my general UI inspiration board is 1700+ uploads deep) to be bothered looking elsewhere. The benefits would need to be HUGE…

      Now this is interesting! Maybe not for my primary need for image and screenshot collection, but this looks like an awesome tool to put at the centre of my design team. Have you used it Rhys?

        A little yeah, though to be honest the design esthetic really got to me. This lead me to not exploring it much more. What I'm looking for is somewhere between Hypershoot and Dropmark.

    I tried some apps for organizing stuff and, currently, only Eagle meets my expectations - it allows me to add PSD/AI/Sketch files as well as video files or PDF. It would definitely need a mobile app as well, but, right now, I'm good with it.

    I used raindrop for a while, then they increased the price in a nonsense way so i switched to eagle recently and it's the best tool i've used so far.

    Having used Ember and Pixave, after trying about a dozen, I found Eagle to be the best. It's Chinese and it's got a weird url, which might throw off, but give it a chance.

      Never let a weird-ass URL get in the way of a good product! Im using eagle now and it looks pretty interesting.

      I wonder how I could view or at least upload on a mobile?

    Klart (klart.co) is nice, but needs Chrome/Firefox extension, so you won't be able to use on mobile.

        Mobile app is soon to be released :) Works well on mobile browser, you can even upload from your phone/tablet.

        Check out the browser extension as well, very convenient.

    Liking Eagle, but not liking how much memory it's using. Over a gig of memory and 6 helper processes. Compared to Lingo which is around 150 Mb.

    Using Raindrop shortly and I really like it. Before I used Pinterest but it is not very handy for collection inspiration, shots uns useful links.

    I keep trying new things, and I keep coming back to Evernote . Works on every device I have, browser extensions, simple saving of pages, images, and screenshots... and free.

      I love Evernote but the only drawback is the Sync can sometimes be wonky and (last I checked) notes have a size-limit. The limit makes keeping large collections of images over a long period of time difficult.

    I'm in the same spot at the moment. I was paying for Dropmark, but like you, felt it was a little to expensive.

    Hypershot is one, though again 4 - 5 Euro a month, depending on monthly or annual payment. Not sure if there is an iOS app, the blog hasn't been updated in 2016, so maybe abandonware?

    GGather is also a possibility. It's a little cheaper, though more geared to bookmarks. No iOS app, though I'm building one for it because out of all the services, I feel this has the most potential.

      It feels like it abandoned but It is not, there wasn't any update for a long time but we're working on improvements, Hypershoot is still running and used by thousand people per month :)

          Not for now, the actual plan is to relaunch a better version & update it more frequently. That not something excluded but I rather focus to have a good web app with better to navigate on it on your mobile than having web app & mobile app
