HELP - Google File Drive Sync creating hundreds of Sketch Files

We recently had a teammate 'run out' of Google Drive space. Blown away, we started doing some investigating and learned that sketch had saved a file he was working on a couple THOUSAND times in Google Drive.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Have you found a fix?

Is the same file being saved (revision history), or is the file being duplicated on each save (e.g. Icons copy.sketch, Icons copy 2.sketch)?

Is the designer affected using any kind of versioning tool for their Sketch files?

I haven't experienced this issue myself when using Google Drive File Stream.
Does your teammate have Auto Save enabled?

  I don't experience the issue myself either, but we have the same setup, and he has this issue which seems extra strange to me. Yes, we both have auto-save enabled.
